NANO 2014 Month in review.

The official wind down of NANO 2014 has ended; though the story continues on. The lessons learned will stick with me: the time and commitment, the ups and down, even those bang head here and crawl into a closet and cry moments that make the writing process both a challenge and a reward. They will all become a part of the new process of banging out a story and crunching those numbers to reach the 50K goal.

But 50K is rarely the end for me and especially when playing in the realms of fantasy. Acknowledging this is step one in playing with the people in my head determined to dictate the paths of their stories for there is no resting unless they grant a reprieve. I think they too deserve a break after plowing away, revealing their secrets in the 30 day mad rush to beat the graph and come out victorious. They too have faced the challenges, overcome the heartache, grown beyond comprehension in a short amount of time. No year to make decisions, no months to ponder the path, just 30 days to dig in and get it done; or at the very least get a good start under the belt.

And so I sit here appreciating the journey together and wait for the rest to be over. Am I excited? A little, for I, too wish to see where the journey ends. Am I afraid? You bet. But that’s okay. This is the writer’s life, and I would have it no other way.
