The Dark One in the Fog

I had an Edgar Allen Poe moment around 2 this morning and here is what I have so far:

Gather round, join the fold. I’ve a story, must be told.
Heed the warning I behold of the dark one in the fog.
For this land cursed be, stolen twice or was it three,
But staying safe is the key when roaming through the bog.

When hues of blues chase the day and skies darken to shades of grey
Signals the time to run away from the dark one in the fog.
Seek the line of city light, don’t summon him with fuss or fight
You’ll be victim one that night of the killer of us all.

No one knows from whence he came or the rules of his deadly game
In the shadows, he remains hunting with his dog.
Summon you with gentle trust, Believe him not but if you must
State your case, escape post haste or be slaughtered like a hog.

Whimpers, whines, fear divine calling out to the sublime
As he seeks out the kind to drag into his world.
No discerning necessary. He fears not an adversary
His devilish grin is found quite scary for any boy or girl.
